Gourde underwent sports hernia surgery Friday and is expected to miss an additional 5-7 weeks.
Scouting Report
The undrafted forward is small by NHL standards but makes up for the lack of size with his grit, feistiness and skating ability. Plays a solid two-way game and will sacrifice his body to make a hit or block a shot. Has shown he has the skill to be a 20-goal scorer at the NHL level and can play on both special teams. He is a very team-oriented player and has a championship pedigree.
Long Range Potential: Versatile two-way center.
