Zappe will start Saturday's season finale against the Ravens, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said Tuesday that both Zappe and Dorian Thompson-Robinson (calf) could play Week 18 against Baltimore, Patrick Warren of the Browns' official site reports. "There's a scenario where we (play both), but I want to make sure we get through the week before making the final determination," the coach said.
The stocky pocket passer put up huge numbers in a high-volume passing attack at the college football level. He is a confident thrower who will attack any defensive scheme and does not get rattled. But his quickness and arm strength will have to improve in order to make an impact at the NFL level. He is not a terrific physical specimen, does not throw well when moving his feet and still has to get used to playing under center.
Long Range Potential: Solid depth quarterback with some upside.
