Clague was put on waivers Sunday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Clague signed a one-year, two-way contract with Buffalo on Friday, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.
Is smart with and without the puck, and generally makes good decisions in the defensive zone. Moves the puck with aplomb. Is mobile and can join the rush effectively. Has an active stick when defending his position. Does not have ideal size for the blueline position at the National Hockey League level, so he must get stronger and prove capable of winning enough battles against bigger competition. Is not a natural power-play QB.
Long Range Potential: Intelligent, low-maintenance puck-moving defenseman with upside.
