The Columbus Blue Jackets acquired center Charlie Coyle and winger Miles Wood from the Colorado Avalanche for forward Gavin Brindley, a third-round draft pick in 2025 (No. 77 overall) and a conditional second-round draft pick in 2027. |

The son of former NHL forward Randy Wood has the same kind of speed that his father showed during his 11 seasons in the league. His kin also has good two-way instincts and hockey sense, but it is his speed that can back off opponents and create breakaways. That is his biggest attribute. Plays best in a faster, less-structured system, though he is not a great finisher and still has to improve his play away from the puck. Injuries have been a problem for him, partly because of his somewhat reckless playing style.
