The Russian forward has settled into a middle-six winger role after returning from two seasons in the KHL, where he learned how to make better use of his size and skills (after struggling with inconsistency and injuries in his first NHL hitch). He is a powerful skater with skill and scoring ability, and has improved his play away from the puck--making him a much more useful player.
