The term "finishes his check" was invented for guys like him: he was always willing to throw the body and was one of the NHL's most physical forecheckers. He will hit anyone and everyone in an opposing sweater but took few penalties for someone who played such a physical style. He could even kill penalties, if required. Had better hands than his scoring totals indicated but was never a consistent offensive threat.
