The Edmonton Oilers acquired defenseman Mattias Ekholm and a sixth-round draft pick in 2024 from the Nashville Predators for defenseman Tyson Barrie, winger Reid Schaefer, a first-round draft pick in 2023 and a fourth-round draft pick in 2024. |
Schaefer was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Friday.
Schaefer, along with Tyson Barrie, a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick, were traded from the Oilers to the Predators on Tuesday in exchange for Mattias Ekholm and a 2024 sixth-round pick, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
The big forward has the combination of skill, scoring and grit that NHL teams love. He knows how to use his size when he gets close to the net, but has a wrist shot that can beat goaltenders from some distance. In addition, he can contribute on the penalty kill. He is a hard worker who is always willing to sacrifice his body.
Long Range Potential: Power forward.
