Blomqvist was promoted from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.
Blomqvist will defend the road net against Philadelphia on Saturday, per Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff.
Has exceptional quickness, especially when moving side to side. Therefore, he is hard to beat on plays in tight. Also displays the cool, calm demeanor that is required to excel between the posts. Has a tendency to come up with big saves at important moments and never quicks on a play. Can make the circus save look routine. His weakness is his tendency to play too small in the net, despite good size. Needs to do a better job of playing more upright so as to avoid teams exploiting him upstairs.
Long Range Potential: Talented, ultra-quick goaltender with upside.
