Gunler was drafted 41st overall by the Hurricanes at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft on Wednesday
Has the size NHL scouts look for in scoring wingers and should get over 200 pounds when he finishes filling out his 6'2" frame. Is at his best with the puck on his stick, as he is very creative and a natural playmaker with good vision and passing acumen. In order to keep defenders honest, he also shoots the puck quite well (though shooting seems to come secondary to passing in his mindset). Needs to become a lot stronger in order to maximize his scoring output at the highest level. Can play either wing position. Can be a good asset on the power play.
Long Range Potential: Big, talented playmaking winger with good upside.
