In his second season as a member of the QMJHL's Saint John Sea Dogs, he elevated his game and production level at the right time (his draft year). That raised his prospect status exponentially. Owns a projectable frame and plenty of hockey sense, so he generally makes good decisions with the puck on his blade. Also displays a physical element to his game, which adds to his overall value as an all-around defenseman. Needs to add bulk and get physically stronger in order to maximize output at the highest level. Also, there are questions about his skating style that may hinder him as he climbs the developmental ladder.
