Excelled at anchoring the O-line, especially blocking for the running game. Possessed exceptional size for an NFL center, and he used it impressively to manhandle opponents. Was a mature, hard-working presence who led the offensive line. Was not a top pass blocker, due to average reach for his size and a lack of ideal initial quickness off the snap. His height made him somewhat susceptible to smaller, explosive bull rushers who could get under his hands. Was somewhat injury-prone.
