MATT FESTA MOVED TO CHICAGO
The Chicago Cubs acquired pitcher Matt Festa from the Texas Rangers for cash.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
In Festa, the Cubs bring in a depth reliever with some experience. After a successful debut in 2022, the right-hander has struggled to remain in the big leagues ever since. He spent time with three organizations in 2024, managing a 5.70 ERA in 23.2 IP. Festa will compete for a middle-relief role in Chicago.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
Festa made 18 appearance for the Rangers in 2024, but they are looking to improve their bullpen depth this off-season. Therefore, Texas designated Festa for assignment shortly before this trade. They picked up some cash in return and now have an open roster spot to work with.
Fantasy impact
Festa almost never pitches in high-leverage situations when in MLB, so this trade will not have a fantasy impact.
