ASTROS ADD AUSTIN PRUITT
The Houston Astros acquired pitcher Austin Pruitt from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Peyton Battenfield and outfielder Cal Stevenson.
What does it give the Houston Astros
In Pruitt, the Astros land a decent right-hander who pitched mostly in long relief (he made 2 starts for the Rays in 2019) last season. He is out of options, so he stands a pretty good chance of making the opening day roster with Houston, barring a very bad spring.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
In Battenfield, the Rays acquire a young right-hander who was drafted last June in the ninth round. The 22-year-old has decent upside. As for Stevenson, the 23-year-old outfielder has now been traded twice in six months (he was originally drafted by Toronto).
Fantasy impact
None of the players involved in this trade should be drafted in any keeper league this year, though of the three it is Battenfield that boasts the most long-range upside. Keep an eye on his progress throughout 2020.
