Above all, he was an excellent defensive catcher with the arm and legwork to rival a Gold Glove winner. Also possessed top leadership qualities. His bat was sub-par because he didn't make enough consistent contact. Struck out too much and hit for a very low batting average.
Long Range Potential: Defense-first depth catcher.
