Mantiply and the Diamondbacks avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.7 million contract Thursday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Mantiply will start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
Can strike plenty of batters out at the minor-league level, thanks especially to an outstanding changeup and excellent deception (cross-body delivery). Is effective in short outings. His arsenal is somewhat limited for Major League Baseball, so his appearances will probably have to be brief most of the time. His fastball lacks velocity and his slider is only average.
