Stewart will undergo arthroscopic right shoulder surgery on Tuesday and is expected to be sidelined for 5-to-6 months, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
The Twins placed Stewart on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder strain, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Owns a solid frame and is a good athlete (he played third base in college). Has a live arm and tremendous fastball. Can be used as either a starter or late-inning reliever, which adds value. Needs to improve his secondary pitches in order to become a big-league starter. Could stand to add even more lower-body strength in order to increase his velocity even more.
Long Range Potential: Versatile right-hander with a little upside.
