Stripling agreed to a minor-league contract with the Royals on Wednesday that includes an invitation to big-league spring training.
Scouting Report
Owns a solid frame (6'3", 220 pounds), plus a quality sinking fastball that can induce plenty of groundball outs. Throws plenty of strikes. Has enough of a repertoire to be a big-league starter. Injuries have been an issue for his development, so he must avoid further serious ailments to maximize output in MLB. Also, he is not overpowering and needs his defense to help him out a lot.
Long Range Potential: Decent right-hander.
