McCullers has won a spot in the Astros' rotation and will make his season debut March 30 against the Red Sox, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McCullers did not factor into Sunday's decision against the Angels, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out four across three innings.

Scouting Report

Boasts an excellent fastball, plus a power slider, which combined make him an excellent strikeout artist at all levels. As the son of a former big-league pitcher, he owns very good pedigree for the position. Lacks ideal control, so he needs to throw more strikes in order to thrive in the big leagues (and also to maximize his arsenal). May wind up pitching in relief (like his father) due to an average third pitch (changeup).
