Scouting Report
Was one of the finest all-round catching talents in the game's history. Threw runners out with aplomb, called a good game and was excellent with the glove overall. Had good power in his bat. Hustled all the time and was a true leader and warrior on the field. Never took a lot of walks throughout his career, so his walk/strikeout ratio was never one of his strengths. Towards the tail end of his career, he didn't bat for a high average as in previous years. Grounded into too many double plays (he hit the ball hard).
Long Range Potential: One of the all-time great catchers.
