Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Wednesday after the signings of Romano and Drew Pomeranz that the team does not have a set closer, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Romano (finger) signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Angels on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Can pitch either as a reliever or starter, which adds to his overall value in MLB. Owns an outstanding slider, which he uses as his true out-pitch. Injuries and a lack of stamina are at the root of his issues, so he is a bit of a late bloomer. Needs to improve his fastball command (and stay healthy) to maximize output in MLB.
Long Range Potential: Versatile right-hander with some upside, when healthy.
