SENS, SABRES SWAP EIGHT ASSETS

The Ottawa Senators acquired forwards Jason Akeson and Phil Varone, defenseman Jerome Leduc and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2016 from the Buffalo Sabres for center Eric O'Dell, wingers Cole Schneider and Alexander Guptill, plus defenseman Michael Sdao.

What does it give the Ottawa Senators
The Senators are still holding out hope of making the Stanley Cup playoffs, so players such as Akeson, Varone and Leduc could help provide depth. However, they should all continue to spend most of their time at the AHL level.

What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
Perhaps the key player for the Sabres in this major swap of minor-league talent is Guptill, a strapping forward who is in his second AHL campaign. Schneider and O'Dell are also solid AHLers, while Sdao is a physical presence.

Fantasy impact
None of the seven players dealt have great fantasy value in keeper leagues, as most should continue to spend most of their time at lower levels.
