RANGERS REPLACE G TALBOT WITH RAANTA

The New York Rangers acquired goaltender Antti Raanta from the Chicago Blackhawks for winger Ryan Haggerty.

What does it give the New York Rangers
After trading Cam Talbot earlier, the Rangers did well to acquire a solid backup in Raanta--and someone with NHL experience that may still have some untapped upside. Look for Raanta to see 25-30 appearances for New York in 2015-16.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
Chicago had little need for Raanta after the latter lost the backup job to Scott Darling this past season. Therefore they moved him for a decent prospect in Haggerty, who adds organizational scoring depth on the wing. He may see time in the NHL in '15-16.

Fantasy impact
Raanta is still only 26 years old and could be viewed as the 'next Cam Talbot'--someone who may shine playing behind Henrik Lundqvist with the Rangers. His fantasy value sees a spike here. Haggerty should be on the fantasy radar but he's at best a dark horse at this stage of his development.
