RANGERS, PENS SWAP AHL WINGERS

The New York Rangers acquired winger Benn Ferriero from the Pittsburgh Penguins for winger Chad Kolarik.

What does it give the New York Rangers
The Rangers get a player with a bit more NHL experience in Ferriero, someone better suited to playing a depth role. Kolarik is a better AHL scorer, but he is less likely to be recalled to the big league. This was largely a move for the AHL level.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Penguins
The baby Penguins are struggling to score this season, so Kolarik should help. The club lost {P Eric Tangradi} when the lockout ended, so Kolarik may help pick up some of the slack. However, he isn't expected to play at the NHL level for Pittsburgh.

Fantasy impact
Neither Ferriero nor Kolarik have much NHL fantasy value, since neither player is expected to stick in the big league with their new organizations.
