ISBISTER TO BOSTON

The Boston Bruins acquired winger Brad Isbister from the Edmonton Oilers for a fourth-round draft pick in 2006.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
The Bruins have bushels of salary-cap space right now, and plenty of roster space to fill. Therefore, don't be surprised if GM Mike O'Connell makes more moves for picks in the near future. As for Isbister, he's been a gross underachiever so far in his NHL career but should get loads of ice time as a top-six forward in Boston. He could play on either wing and should produce better numbers than during his Edmonton experience. However, the B's shouldn't expect Cam Neely II.

What does it give the Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are clearly moving salary in an attempt to place themselves in a better situation with regards to unrestricted free agency. They need to find a No. 1 center badly, so Isbister's salary could be the determining factor in achieving that goal. A fourth-round pick is probably as good a return as can be expected in this new salary-cap era.
