BOCHENSKI TO BOSTON

The Boston Bruins acquired winger Brandon Bochenski from the Chicago Blackhawks for forward Kris Versteeg and a conditional draft pick.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
Bochenski is reunited with current Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli, who used to be assistant GM in Ottawa--Bochenski's original team. He has a lot of untapped scoring potential, but has yet to make his mark in the big league. Bochenski should get his chance with the Bruins later in the season, particularly after the February 27 trade deadline.

What does it give the Chicago Blackhawks
In Versteeg, the 'Hawks add a little less goal-scoring ability but more grit for the future. For now, he'll replace Bochenski down on the farm at Norfolk, but he may see ice time with Chicago before the end of the regular season--since the 'Hawks aren't expected to make the playoffs this year. The conditional pick is a bonus.
