FAULK DEALT TO DETROIT
The Detroit Red Wings acquired defenseman Justin Faulk from the St. Louis Blues for defenseman Justin Holl, winger Dmitri Buchelnikov, a first-round draft pick in 2026 and a third-round draft pick in 2026.
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings upgraded their defense in a big way by bringing in Faulk. The veteran all-around defender is enjoying a solid season on offense. He should log big minutes for Detroit down the stretch, contributing on both special teams. Faulk also comes with one more year left on his contract.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
St. Louis parted ways with Faulk after seven seasons, as they are clear sellers on deadline day. They took on Holl's contract for the rest of '25-26 and added a Russian prospect to keep an eye on in Buchelnikov. But for the retooling Blues, the two picks in this year's draft are the key acquisitions here.
Fantasy impact
Faulk's point production should remain steady, even though he may see less power-play ice time in Detroit. Back in St. Louis, other blueliners like Cam Fowler, Phillip Broberg and Logan Mailloux will get a modest boost from taking over Faulk's power-play minutes. Buchelnikov has long-range upside and should be on everyone's keeper radar at this point. As for Holl, he has no fantasy value to speak of.
