You know it is a different National Hockey League season when the Islanders and Rangers get together for a trade! With Alexander Romanov out for the season, the Isles needed more depth on the left side of the defense. So, Soucy should help. However, did they overpay for a pending UFA defenseman?
What does it give the New York Rangers
For the Rangers, this trade was a no-brainer. Soucy struggled with the Blueshirts and never really got going after coming over from the Canucks in the J.T. Miller trade last season. Landing a third-rounder from one of their city rivals is a coup for the Rangers, a team looking to retool the roster.
