HURRICANES, SHARKS SWAP PICKS

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired a fourth-round draft pick in 2026 and defenseman Kyle Masters from the San Jose Sharks for a fifth-round draft pick in 2027.

What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
This is a deal for roster purposes only. Carolina had an extra spot to add a contract, so Masters' contract was added along with a fourth-round pick in '26. Masters should remain in the ECHL moving forward.

What does it give the San Jose Sharks
For the Sharks, they felt the need to move a contract. Masters was the player to move out here since he is an ECHL player without an NHL future. San Jose will receive Chicago's fifth-round pick in the '27 draft.
