HUSSO HEADED TO ANAHEIM
The Anaheim Ducks acquired goaltender Ville Husso from the Detroit Red Wings for future considerations.
What does it give the Anaheim Ducks
In Husso, the Ducks add a depth goaltender with NHL experience. He has, however, spent much of the past two seasons in the minors, after struggling with the Red Wings. The change of scenery could be what Husso needs, but for Anaheim he is unlikely to be more than AHL depth or a backup (in case of an injury or trade).
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
Unfortunately for the Red Wings, Husso's play declined immediately after they traded for him in 2022. They will now move on from him, picking up only future considerations from the Ducks in this deal. The move also frees up some cap space and a roster spot shortly before the trade deadline. This was mostly a money move.
Fantasy impact
Husso will get little to no NHL playing time with the Ducks, so this trade will not have a fantasy impact.
