RANGERS, BOLTS SWAP PROSPECTS
The New York Rangers acquired winger Lucas Edmonds from the Tampa Bay Lightning for center Ryder Korczak.
What does it give the New York Rangers
Edmonds was a third-round draft pick by the Lightning in 2022, but he has not done much in parts of three seasons in the AHL. The Rangers are hoping a change of scenery helps him. New York needs more organizational help at right wing, so this trade makes sense from their perspective.
What does it give the Tampa Bay Lightning
Korczak, also a third-round draft pick (2021), is a center who shoots right. He too has played parts of three AHL campaigns, but has also struggled to put up points on a consistent basis. This feels like a classic case of both prospects needing a new team at this point in their respective careers.
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here. Keep an eye on both prospects down on the farm to see if either Edmonds or Korczak can break through offensively with their new organizations.
