The San Jose Sharks acquired forward Ty Dellandrea from the Dallas Stars for a fourth-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the San Jose Sharks
Dellandrea, a former first-round selection of the Stars, never quite lived up to that potential in Dallas. Now with the Sharks the pending RFA should get a fresh start. He is known for his defensive play and penalty killing, but on a young Sharks team look for him to have more opportunity to showcase some offense.
What does it give the Dallas Stars
The Stars recoup a pick for a player in Dellandrea who no longer had a regular spot on the roster. They were not going to be able to afford giving him a raise, and they have too many young players in the system surpassing him on the depth chart. The fourth-round draft pick they received originally belonged to the Winnipeg Jets.
Fantasy impact
Dellandrea offers no fantasy value at this point in his career. Even with more opportunity, he likely is a middle-six forward in San Jose who maybe gets some power-play time.
