DUHAIME DEALT TO COLORADO
The Colorado Avalanche acquired winger Brandon Duhaime from the Minnesota Wild for a third-round draft pick in 2026.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche have been busy leading up to the trade deadline, so it is not surprising to see them add more weapons for their playoff push. Duhaime will likely play a fourth-line role in Colorado, but he is a sound forechecker and decent penalty-killing winger. Duhaime is also a pending UFA this summer.
What does it give the Minnesota Wild
For the Wild, getting back a third-rounder (even if it is in '26) in exchange for a pending UFA winger should be viewed as a win. Duhaime was useful for Minnesota, but the club should be able to replace him from within. The Wild have cap issues, so they are not likely to go hunting for free agents this summer.
Fantasy impact
Duhaime could produce more offense on a much stronger Avalanche squad, but his ice time figures to remain minimal. There is no need to pick him up at this time.
