VRANA SENT TO ST. LOUIS
The St. Louis Blues acquired winger Jakub Vrana from the Detroit Red Wings for forward Dylan McLaughlin and a seventh-round draft pick in 2025.
What does it give the St. Louis Blues
This is a trade designed to give Vrana a fresh start. He was not part of Detroit's plan but might become a nice fit in St. Louis, a team that has moved out several forwards recently.
What does it give the Detroit Red Wings
McLaughlin is not much of an NHL prospect at age 27, and the draft pick is in the final round of a draft two years from now. In other words, the Red Wings did not get much for Vrana.
Fantasy impact
Vrana could be worth a pickup in many fantasy leagues down the stretch, since he is expected to play a scoring role in St. Louis. McLaughlin has no fantasy value.
