LEAFS AND AVS SWAP FORWARDS
The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired winger Dryden Hunt from the Colorado Avalanche for forward Denis Malgin.
What does it give the Toronto Maple Leafs
In Hunt, the Maple Leafs are getting an energy player to help add some grit and abrasiveness to their bottom six. He is exactly what the team needs more of. He will fly under the radar but could make an impact in 2022-23.
What does it give the Colorado Avalanche
The Avalanche are hoping the shifty Malgin can add a little offense to their lineup, especially while some of their key forwards like superstar Nathan MacKinnon and captain Gabriel Landeskog continue to recover from injury.
Fantasy impact
Malgin should get a look as a top-nine forward for the Avalanche and possibly receive some power-play time. Wait and see how the Avs plan to use him, but he might be worth a look in deep leagues until all of Colorado's injured forwards return. Hunt makes a living as a bottom-six forward, so there is no need to pick him up in most leagues.
