AULD TO BOSTON

The Boston Bruins acquired goaltender Alex Auld from the Phoenix Coyotes for winger Nate DiCasmirro and a fifth-round draft pick in 2009.

What does it give the Boston Bruins
Auld will add some depth in goal for the Bruins, since Manny Fernandez is having trouble getting over an injury to his left knee. Auld's presence will also allow prospect Tuukka Rask to get more development time in the AHL...once Tim Thomas returns from his own injury. This move may also allow the Bruins to deal Fernandez later on.

What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Since the arrival of Ilya Bryzgalov in Phoenix, Auld has been toiling in the American Hockey League. The Coyotes are now committed to Bryzgalov as their starter, so they didn't have much use for Auld. DiCasmirro is another tough guy for the Phoenix organization, while the fifth rounder is the most important element of the deal.
