The Phoenix Coyotes acquired defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Sean Zimmerman and a sixth-round draft pick in 2010.
What does it give the Phoenix Coyotes
Schneider is currently toiling in the AHL but he may be a factor for the Coyotes down the stretch. At this stage of his lengthy career, he is mainly a power-play specialist. He adds more depth to a team that already acquired Derek Morris earlier in the day.
What does it give the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks soured on Schneider early and dispatched him to the minor leagues. Therefore, they didn't expect much in return. Getting Zimmerman and a possible pick is a nice return for a veteran Vancouver didn't want anymore.
