BAILEY FOR LEIER
The Philadelphia Flyers acquired winger Justin Bailey from the Buffalo Sabres for winger Taylor Leier.
What does it give the Philadelphia Flyers
In Bailey, the Flyers add a big body who is still only 23 years old. His offensive production has been spotty (even at the minor-league level), but he will get a second chance in Philadelphia to figure his game out. While he will start out with the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, he could make his way back to the NHL before long.
What does it give the Buffalo Sabres
Leier is a few months older than Bailey and not nearly as big. His production at the AHL level this season mirrors that of Bailey but he is more of a defensive forward and role player who can kill penalties and provide energy. He is likely to remain in the minors for the foreseeable future, as Buffalo is fairly deep up front.
Fantasy impact
Neither Bailey nor Leier have much in the way of fantasy upside. That is not likely to change after this swap.
