'CANES, CATS SWAP AHL FORWARDS
The Carolina Hurricanes acquired forward Connor Brickley from the Florida Panthers for forward Brody Sutter.
What does it give the Carolina Hurricanes
In Brickley, the 'Canes land a versatile AHLer who appeared in more NHL games than Sutter last season (23 to 8). He is not expected to see time in the NHL this season, however, and is more of a depth forward at this point.
What does it give the Florida Panthers
Obviously, the new Panthers' regime (which is heavily influenced by analytics) did not like Brickley's numbers enough to keep him around. Perhaps Sutter will get a better opportunity in South Florida than Brickley would have received.
Fantasy impact
Neither Brickley nor Sutter has much in the way of fantasy value at the National Hockey League level.
