The Minnesota Vikings acquired running back Cam Akers and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2026 from the Los Angeles Rams for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2026.

What does it give the Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings released Dalvin Cook in the off-season, which raised a few eyebrows. Now, after an 0-2 start, Minnesota decided to add more help at running back in the form of Akers. Look for Akers to help the team by providing valuable depth behind starter Alexander Mattison.

What does it give the Los Angeles Rams
The Rams almost dealt Akers last season, so this was always going to be the end result this time around. Los Angeles did not get much in return, other than a slight draft pick upgrade in '26. However, this move should cement Kyren Williams as the unquestioned starting running back in Los Angeles.

Fantasy impact
Williams should continue to be a great fantasy steal for those who gambled on him this year, while Akers should see a spike in value after this move to Minnesota. Mattison's value may go in the opposite direction, so selling high on him now may be the best move at this time.
