DOLPHINS DEAL FOR RB JEFF WILSON
The Miami Dolphins acquired running back Jeff Wilson Jr. from the San Francisco 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick in 2023.
What does it give the Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins traded Chase Edmonds to Denver in the Bradley Chubb deal, but filled that roster spot by adding Wilson (a running back familiar with Mike McDaniel's offense). Look for Wilson to spell Raheem Mostert, a role he used to handle in San Francisco, with Miami for the rest of 2022.
What does it give the San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers' recent acquisition of Christian McCaffrey from Carolina made Wilson somewhat expendable. San Francisco is also expected to get back Elijah Mitchell from injury at some point, so Wilson was shipped out in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick. This was about the numbers game.
Fantasy impact
Wilson's stock is back on the rise after this deal, since he was not going to do much behind a franchise running back like McCaffrey now around. Keep Wilson if on the roster, or pick him up if available.
