FLACCO FILLS NEED IN NEW YORK

The New York Jets acquired quarterback Joe Flacco from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2022.

What does it give the New York Jets
In Flacco, the Jets bring back a veteran signal caller that was with the club last season. Furthermore, he is familiar with new offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur's system. Despite his age, and despite the fact New York is in complete rebuilding mode, Flacco represents a clear upgrade over struggling (and now injured) rookie Zach Wilson and journeyman backup Mike White.

What does it give the Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles had three quarterbacks, so somebody had to go. Gardner Minshew II was acquired from Jacksonville as insurance, so he will now become the team's backup to Jalen Hurts. The Eagles will receive a sixth-round draft pick in '22, which could turn into a fifth-rounder (depending on the amount of playing time Flacco receives with the Jets this season). This is a good deal for both teams.

Fantasy impact
Flacco could be a decent pickup in deep leagues with two QB starting positions (or one QB and one super-flex position). His arrival should also be good news for the rest of New York's skilled position players, especially rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore and veteran Corey Davis.
