PATS PRY PATTERSON FROM THE RAIDERS

The New England Patriots acquired wide receiver / return specialist Cordarrelle Patterson and a 6th-round draft pick in 2018 from the Oakland Raiders for a 5th-round draft pick in 2018.

What does it give the New England Patriots
The recent departure of go-to receiver and return man Danny Amendola created pressing needs in the wideout corps and at kick returner, and the Pats are hoping Patterson can address both positions. He certainly has the talent, and although he's not as proven as Amendola he brings a size element New England has to love. This is a fairly affordable, high-upside move by the Patriots.

What does it give the Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders are moving around a lot of pieces lately to get in line with new head coach Jon Gruden's vision, and Patterson apparently wasn't part of that vision. The move essentially saves Oakland some money (freeing it up for other moves), while the draft pick isn't a major upgrade.

Fantasy impact
This move should improve Patterson's fantasy fortunes significantly, although it probably doesn't make him a player to target early in most fantasy leagues. His potential to become a regular target of Tom Brady makes him a sleeper to keep an eye on, and his superb return ability only boosts his value in leagues that include return stats.
