BOBBY JONES TO SIXERS

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired forward Bobby Jones (the 2006 draft's No.37 overall pick) from the Minnesota Timberwolves for a future second-round draft pick and cash.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
A very solid young guard-forward to help tighten up their defense. Jones is obviously a player the Sixers coveted, but they couldn't get him at the spot they wanted him. He won't be a big star in the NBA but he's a very active defensive stopper who is a team-first type. He can be a sort of small Samuel Dalembert for them off the bench, presuming he makes the team and can win some playing time.

What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves
Above all, money. The T-wolves had an extra pick and used it to save some money. Jones might have been a nice addition to a Minny team that needs to improve, but they didn't likely want to pay four rookie salaries and so shipped Jones off to Philly. The other three rooks look to be staying and Minnesota obviously felt the need to save a little cash with the addition of those new contracts.
