WHITEHEAD TO NETS, PAIGE TO JAZZ

The Brooklyn Nets acquired the rights to combo guard Isaiah Whitehead from the Utah Jazz for the rights to combo guard Marcus Paige and cash considerations.

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
Steal of a deal for the Nets? Whitehead has the goods to possibly be Brooklyn's starting point guard in a few years, so hats off to Nets management for getting a quality prospect without giving up too much in return. Whitehead has a bit of star potential, but it's probably a stretch to suggest the same of Paige.

What does it give the Utah Jazz
This is a head-scratcher by a Jazz team usually known for savvy draft moves. Paige has a limited game and was a much later second-round pick than Whitehead. It's also odd considering Utah's needs at point guard (since Whitehead has higher upside at that spot than Paige). Perhaps Utah needs the cash for other moves.

Fantasy impact
Whitehead has some deep sleeper appeal for the coming campaign, since the Nets are somewhat talent-starved and Whitehead has mostly NBA-ready tools. Don't expect much from Paige anytime soon, if at all; he's a fringe NBA prospect.
