ATLANTA LANDS PIVOT PROSPECT TYLER

The Atlanta Hawks acquired center Jeremy Tyler from the Golden State Warriors for cash and future draft pick considerations.

What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
Most of the Hawks' regular big men ( {P Josh Smith}, {P Zaza Pachulia}, {P Ivan Johnson}, {P Anthony Tolliver}, and {P Johan Petro}) are set for free agency in the coming off-season, so adding an athletic power forward / center such as Tyler is a nice long-range move. He's still a diamond in the rough, but Tyler has significant upside and won't be too expensive to keep around and develop.

What does it give the Golden State Warriors
The Warriors clearly made this move to get under the NBA's salary cap, and the cash (plus cutting Tyler's salary commitment) will help. Golden State is also already set in their post rotation for the next few years with the likes of {P David Lee}, {P Andrew Bogut}, {P Carl Landry}, and solid rookie {P Festus Ezeli}, so the raw Tyler--who hasn't shown major strides yet as a player--became the odd man out.

Fantasy impact
Tyler's move to Atlanta is unlikely to have much of a fantasy impact for either the Hawks or Warriors, since he rarely plays. Next season, however, his fortunes might change thanks to this move (if, as mentioned, many of Atlanta's big men leave).
