GRIZZ ADD ANOTHER BIG MAN IN PITTMAN

The Memphis Grizzlies acquired center Dexter Pittman and a second-round pick in 2013 from the Miami Heat for the rights to center Ricky Sanchez.

What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace is known for coveting talented post players and he obviously sees something he likes in Pittman. Recent trades have opened up several spots on Memphis' bench, so Wallace takes a flier here on a still-unproven but athletic powerhouse in Pittman. It's hard to see him playing much anytime soon for the Grizz, but Pittman does have definite upside. If he doesn't pan out, he becomes a free agent after this season (so this is a very low-risk move).

What does it give the Miami Heat
The Heat is a veteran squad intent on playing for a championship every year, so this opens a roster space that should go to a veteran signee, if needed. That 'win-now' ethos made Pittman an unlikely part of Miami's plans, as he wasn't progressing very quickly and the recent pickup of veteran center {P Chris Andersen} seems to be working out for them. They save a little cash here, and in Sanchez get a still-intriguing talent who may eventually be a good NBA center. The oft-traded Sanchez is still playing in Argentina, but Miami needs to look for as many affordable (but high-upside) answers in the post as they can find (and that's exactly what Sanchez represents).

Fantasy impact
There is little to no short-term fantasy impact here for either the Grizzlies or the Heat, as Pittman won't likely play much anytime soon and it's unclear when (or if) Sanchez might make his way to the NBA.
