NETS LAND SWIFT

The New Jersey Nets acquired forward Stromile Swift from the Memphis Grizzlies for center Jason Collins and cash.

What does it give the New Jersey Nets
This is a very solid deal for the Nets. Not only is Swift a player they have coveted for years, but if he doesn't pan out the way they hope he becomes a free agent after this season. He is a better fit for New Jersey's up-tempo style than Collins ever was, and he still has star-level potential. A nice risk and a player with the talent to start for them.

What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
A bit of a strange move for the Grizz, but Swift hadn't panned out for them. Collins is a hard worker and a leader, but talent-wise does not bring what Swift did. Memphis takes on an extra year of contract with this deal for a player who will likely be a backup, but at least they move past the headache created by Swift's clashes with the coaching staff.
