T-WOLVES, MAVS EXCHANGE GUARDS
The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired guard Greg Buckner from the Dallas Mavericks for guard Trenton Hassell.
What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves
In Buckner they T-Wolves get a serviceable player who won't expect to be a starter. He's not quite as talented as Hassell, but Hassell would have likely expected to see significant minutes and Minny is going with a younger lineup. Buckner also makes a little less money than Hassell, which might be another factor in this one.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
Hassell will bring a hard-working, defense-first approach to the Mavs. He was a regular starter and a team leader for the Timberwolves, but Hassell is likely to be more of a role player for the Mavs. He is a solid fit for the veteran team and should provide a versatile defensive replacement off the bench.
