MALIK ALLEN NOW A NUGGET

The Denver Nuggets acquired forward Malik Allen from the Milwaukee Bucks for guard Soony Weems, forward Walters Sharpe and cash.

What does it give the Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets are now a mostly veteran squad that took huge strides forward last season as a contender. With that in mind it makes sense for them to have more veterans than youngsters, and adding Allen here is a nice depth move in that sense. He's pretty injury-prone but effective if used in spurts as a high-energy big body in the paint.

What does it give the Milwaukee Bucks
The rebuilding Bucks are trying to get more athletic, and both Sharpe and Weems are nice additions with that in mind. Sharpe didn't stay in Denver long (having been traded to the Nuggets last month by the Pistons) but he eventually may be a solid NBA player--he certainly has the athletic goods. As does Weems, who can jump out of the gym but hasn't quite caught on as a regular due to a need for more work on his fundamentals. Expect both Sharpe and Weems to spend a lot of time on the bench in 2009-10 for Milwaukee, if not in the D-League.
