KNICKS AND CLIPS MAKE DEAL

The New York Knicks acquired guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Tim Thomas from the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Mardy Collins and forward Zach Randolph.

What does it give the New York Knicks
The Knicks continue to shake up their roster in search of a new identity. Mobley provides the club with a veteran scorer from the outside, while Thomas is a solid all-around player who can play all three positions up front if need be.

What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
Randolph is the key to the trade from L.A.'s perspective. When motivated, he can be a physical force down low (especially on offense), which is what the Clips are hoping for after a slow offensive start from big-man duo Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby. Collins is an underrated talent who will compete for minutes in the new-look Clipper backcourt.
